Is it starting to feel like fall where you live, or is it still hotter than you-know-what? This little core (er, dècor) is reminding me that cool, crisp days—and fresh, crisp apples!—are just around the corner.

YOU’LL NEED:

  • cardboard tube

  • white paint

  • paint brush

  • 2 red cupcake liners

  • Elmer’s white glue

  • dried black beans

HOW TO MAKE IT:

  1. Paint the cardboard tube white. Set aside to dry.

  2. Glue the beans (the “apple seeds”) to the middle of the cardboard tube. Next, glue a red cupcake liner to each end of the tube, as shown in the photo.

  3. Place your apple core in the center of the dining table, on the mantel, or on a desk in your home to help decorate for fall.
