Upcycled Spring Bird
Earth Day is fast approaching—it’s on April 22, the day after Easter this year!—and I thought this craft was a perfect way to represent both spring occasions.
My kids and I created this silly little bird in the “Maker’s Space” at our local Children’s Museum. It’s such an awesome room, lined with all kinds of recycled materials, kid-appropriate tools and hardhats, glue guns, and more to make whatever you want. I would have spent the entire day in that room if my kids had let me!
My favorite part about this project, besides that it’s made from all recycled items, is that it’s completely open-ended—you can use whatever you have lying around to make your own! Let your kids start collecting items that would otherwise be tossed in the recycling bin or trash can, and see what they can create from them.
