Make a mummy piñata for a friend

Give this fun and festive toy to the sweetest friend you have. When she pulls the tag—SURPRISE!—candy and confetti will fly out.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Cardboard toilet paper tube

  • White crêpe paper

  • White and colored card stock

  • Googly eyes

  • Twine

  • Candy and/or confetti

  • Scissors, glue, and tape

HOW TO MAKE IT

  1. Use the cardboard tube to trace 2 circles onto your white cardstock and 1 circle onto your colored cardstock. Cut out the circles.

  2. Tape 1 white circle over an end of the tube.

  3. Fill the tube with the candy and/or confetti. (You can make your own confetti from torn or hole-punched pieces of construction paper or tissue paper!)

  4. Punch a hole in the colored circle. Thread the twine through it. Tie the ends of the twine together to form a loop.

  5. Tape the knotted part of the loop to the remaining paper circle, then tape the circle over the open end of the tube, so the knot is now inside the tube.

  6. Add just a dab of glue to the tube and wrap the tube with layers of crêpe paper. Glue the end of the paper to the tube. Glue on the eyes.

  7. Write a note on the tag and give your mummy piñata to the sweetest friend you have.
