Itsy-bitsy rainbow spiders

We love freshening up our traditional orange and black Halloween decor with bright colors like these! Our rainbow spiders are so easy to make, your kiddos could do it—as long as they’re patient enough to wait for the glue to dry. (If you have a hot glue gun, put it to work! If not, use a hairdryer to speed things along.)

  • Colored craft sticks

  • Black pom-poms

  • Colorful googly eyes

  • white yarn

  • Glue

  1. Find 3 craft sticks of the same color. Glue 2 of them in an “x” shape. Glue the third over the top vertically.

  2. Repeat with the remaining craft sticks. Let dry completely. (We left ours out to dry for a few hours. If you’re in a hurry, use a hairdryer!)

  3. Wrap the end of the yarn tightly around the middle of 1 stick 3-4 times. Start as close as you can to the intersecting center.

  4. Pull the yarn to a neighboring stick and wrap it tightly around that stick 1 time. Continue pulling the yarn to the next nearest stick, wrapping it once around the stick before moving on to the next. You should be “spinning the web” in a circular motion, moving from the inside out.

  5. Continue until your web is full. Add glue to the last place you’ll wrap the yarn. Wrap 2-3 times over glue and cut yarn, leaving about 5” to hang. Glue on a pom-pom and googly eyes to make the spider.

  6. Repeat steps 3-5 to make more colorful spider webs!
